Your 60-second business introduction: a simple formula

· MTBG team · 1 min read

In short

A strong 60-second introduction names who you are, the one problem you solve, a short proof, the exact client you want to meet and a clear ask. Practise it aloud until it fits in 55 seconds. At MTBG meetings every member and visitor gets one minute, so a tight pitch is your best asset.

At an MTBG meeting, everyone in the room introduces their business in one minute. Sixty seconds feels short until you try to fill it with everything you do. The trick is to say less, more clearly.

The five-part formula

  1. Name and business (5 seconds). “I’m Asha Kulkarni from Kulkarni Interiors.”
  2. The one problem you solve (15 seconds). Not your whole service list. “We design kitchens for families who’ve outgrown the one that came with the flat.”
  3. A short proof (10 seconds). A number, a recent project, a result. “Last month we finished three kitchens on Gangapur Road in under four weeks each.”
  4. Who you want to meet (15 seconds). Be specific enough that someone thinks of a name. “A great referral for me is anyone who has just bought a resale flat, or an architect who doesn’t do interiors.”
  5. The ask and your name again (10 seconds). “If you hear someone complain about their kitchen this week, introduce me. Asha, Kulkarni Interiors.”

Asha is an example, not an MTBG member.

Make it easy to refer you

People refer what they can remember. Pick one service per meeting and rotate. One week kitchens, next week wardrobes. Over a month the room learns everything you do, one clear piece at a time.

Practise out loud

Time yourself on your phone. Aim for 55 seconds so you never get cut off at the best part. Cut adjectives first; keep numbers and names.

Bring this to your first meeting

When you visit MTBG as a guest you also get your 60 seconds. Ask for an invitation and come prepared. It is the fastest way to find out whether the room has your next clients in it.
